Tips for the Beginning Photographer

Is it time to start your photography journey?

When you first start considering photography you need to consider a few things: what kind of camera do I want, what lenses will I need, what is going to be my niche and who will I photograph? So we start with these basic things.

Do your research:

Photography is no cheap task. Buying even a used DSLR camera could cost hundreds of dollars, but that shouldn't scare you away. If you're seriously considering photography, take some time to weigh your options when it comes to camera and lens choices.  And once you pick out the camera that best fits your needs, take some time to watch tutorials and read articles to learn about basic camera tips like rule of thirds, exposure triangle, and much more!

Find your niche:

If you already know what you're passionate about, then this step is pretty easy! If not, don't freak out because it is alright to not know what you want to photograph. I've been taking photos for three years now and I'm still finding my passion. Great things take time, so take that time and really push yourself to try new niches to see what best fits your personality.

Practice, Practice, Practice:

Photography is always evolving and the only way to really get good at it is to practice. Find some friends or family members who are willing to let you take photos of them. The only way to improve your technique is to practice it and learn how to tweak your mistakes as you go!

Until next time, make it a great day!
